Press Conference: 23 May 2017

Nepal Mountaineering Association and UN Women Nepal’s Civil Society Advisory Group jointly organized a press conference on the successful summit of Mt. Everest by the first Tamang woman,  Ms. Kanchhi Maya Tamang. She is the first person to take a message on gender equality and women’s empowerment to the top of the world.

Min Bahadur Sherchan died at Everest BC-6 May
Nepal’s octogenarian mountaineer Min Bahadur Sherchan died on Saturday afternoon 6 May 2017 at the base camp of Mt Everest. He created the record of the oldest climber to ascend Everest at the age of 76 in 2008, but it was broken by Japanese climber Yuichiro Miura. Famous climber Ueli Steck killed
The famous Swiss Climber Ueli Steck was killed during expedition to Everest on 30 April 2017. He had the record climbing mountains speedily, setting record of ascending the north face of the Eiger, a peak in the Bernese alps in 2 hours 47 min without the usage of rope. NMA's assistance to Ang Rita Sherpa

NMA President Ang Tshering Sherpa handed over the cash of Nrs 1 lac to the daughter of Ang Rita Sherpa for his treatment. Mr. Sherpa is undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital, Baansbari. Ist VP Santa Bir Lama, Secretary- Rajendra Man Shrestha, Treasurer Tika Ram Gurung and CAO Jinesh Sindurakar were also present during that time.
