Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) is saddened to hear the sudden demise of Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Rabindra Adhikari, Chairman of Yeti Airlines and tourism veteran Mr. Ang Tshering Sherpa, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Mr. Birendra Shrestha, Under Secretary at the Prime Minister’s office Mr. Yubaraj Dahal, CAAN Engineer Dhruba Das Bhochhibhaya, Captain Prabhakar KC and Security Personnel Arjun Ghimire in a tragic helicopter accident on 27 February 2019 in Taplejung.

NMA feels the accident as the long lasting loss for the development of tourism and aviation sector of our country.

On behalf of NMA, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for their strength and courage to persevere and overcome this painful period.

May the departed souls rest in eternal peace.

Completion of Refreshment Training in Mountaineering- 7th March 2019

NMA organized a day long training titled Refreshment Training for Mountaineers on 7 March 2019 at Gokarna House Resturant, Thamel. The training is specially designed for Sardar, Senior Support Climber and Support Climber to refresh them with mountaineering rules and regulations, weather updates, safety security, crisis handling in mountain areas, mountain environment, and high altitude sickness. There were 78 participants in the training.


Certificate distribution program- 7 March, 2019

NMA organized a special program on 7 March to distribute the certificate of completion for the 28 participants of 27th Advance Mountaineering Course conducted in Kathmandu and Langtang and Kathmandu from 21 Dec 2018 - 3 Jan 2019. Dandu Raj Ghimire, Director General of Department of Tourism was chief guest for the program. 10 instructors and 01 equipment in-charge were also appreciated for their contribution in the training.

NMA Participation at Asian Cup 2019

NMA Executive board members Mr. Ang Tshewang Sherpa, Mr. Singh Lama, Mr. Sanjib Gurung and Mr. Shiva Bahadur Sapkota participate in Asian Cup 2019 organized by China Hong Kong Mountaineering and Climbing Union from 9-10 March 2019 at China.


NMA participation at International Federation of Sports Climbing (IFSC) Plenary Assembly (PA) 2019

NMA President Santa Bir Lama is leading the delegate team to participate in PA of IFSC to be organized in Japan from 13-17 March 2019. The other members of the delegation team are First Vice President Mr. Deebas Bickram Shah and executive board members Mr. Ang Tshewang Sherpa, Mr. Singh Lama, Mr. Sanjib Gurung and Mr. Shiva Bahadur Sapkota.
