International Mountain Day

On the occasion of 17th International Mountain Day NMA organized an online program on 11 December 2020 with various delegates from National and International Tourism Associations. In the program Santa Bir Lama, President of NMA and Director of DOT, Meera Acharya handed over the title of ‘Sherpa of the Year 2020’ to Nirmal Purja as awarded by the Union of Asian Alpine Association(UAAA). Mingma Gyabu Sherpa, the sherpa of the year 2019 also felicitated Nirmal Purja. The online program was also joined by Dr Injeong Lee, President of UAAA & Lode Becker, General Secretary of International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation. The program was moderated by Kul Bahadur Gurung, General Secretary of NMA and Member of Mountaineering Committee of UIAA. Among other participants Board Members of NMA, Wangchu Sherpa, Shiva Bahadur Sapkota and Dipendra Pandey were also present in the program.
