March 13, 2023

Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN) today discussed possible collaboration.

Advisor Dr. Ganesh Gurung,  Senior Vice President Mr. Thakur Raj Pandey, and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Mr. Jinesh Sindurakar represented the NMA at the meeting held at NMA secretariat Nagpokhari Naxal. Whereas the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ms. Ishana Thapa and Communication and Marketing associate Ms. Puja Gurung represented the BCN.

At the meeting, various issues were discussed and both teams tried to find common issues to collaborate on.  A soft agreement was reached between the NMA and BCN to prepare a joint proposal and working modality and find a donor to implement the ideas.

NMA has also agreed to provide a separate but suitable place to BCN inside the International Mountain Museum (IMM) premises for the view of birds through binoculars.

NMA had requested the BCN to organize an Asian Level Regional Bird Festival inside the IMM premises with the aim of tourism promotion. NMA had also requested BCN to stall exhibits of birds that can be found in the mountain regions.

NMA will conduct a survey and feasibility study for finding the possibility of all the proposed works and will again invite the BCN for further detailed discussion.
